The Ryerson Rams Women’s Basketball team captures their second-consecutive BIA Cup title after defeating the University of Toronto Varsity Blues 87-74.
TORONTO, ON –  The Ryerson Rams are BIA Cup champions once again after defeating the Toronto Varsity Blues 87-74 at the Goldring Centre, in leg two of the event on Saturday.
The Rams continue to roll, improving their record to 5-1, after losing for the first time last week, 95-79 in Windsor, which also saw them fall one spot in the CIS Top 10 rankings, from third to fourth.
There was a buzz at the Kimel Family Field House as NBA All-Star Weekend promotions were in full swing.  Some big name guests in attendance included former Raptor, Morris Peterson; The Raptor, and the Toronto Raptors Dance Pak.

RUGBY LOSES ITS GREATEST WINGER: JONAH LOMU DIES AT 40

One of the greatest rugby players to ever grace the pitch passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, at only 40 years old, and the sporting world continues to reel from the news.

Jonah Lomu, who is known throughout Oceania and by rugby supporters across the globe, shockingly died after returning home from a short family vacation in Dubai. The man from Pukekohe, a small town near Auckland, had been battling Nephrotic syndrome, a rare kidney disease, since he was just 20 years old. By 2003, he was undergoing regular dialysis treatments, up to six times a week and in 2007, he was forced to quit the game.

Her heart is pounding and everything around her slows to a blur.  Despite the thousands of cheering fans at PEPS Stadium, all she can hear are the referees, her teammates, and her coach, Carly Clarke.  She has never been more nervous for a sporting event in her life.

Less than a year ago, she was competing in her high school championship game, for a title that her Country Day School Cyclones had won three years in a row. Now, as a freshman, she is the starting point guard at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport, national championships.
