Calling just my second-career broadcast with Victor Findlay on colour commentary (November 22, 2014).
I remember the conversation like it was yesterday.

I was in my second year at Ryerson in the RTA – Sport Media program, volunteering and working more than I slept, trying out everything, and saying no to nothing.

I knew from the get-go that I wanted to be on-air. There was something about the adrenaline of going live, the hours of preparation, and the ability to tell stories that I found so compelling. From the first time I heard "cue" in my ear, I was hooked. The feeling never changes.

When an NBA team loses four of their five starters in the offseason, expectations for the following year are incredibly low. Clearly someone didn't tell that to the 2015-16 Portland Trail Blazers.

After the departures of Nicolas Batum (CHA), LaMarcus Aldridge (SA), Robin Lopez (NYK), and Wesley Mathews (DAL) it seemed like the Trail Blazers, who had just made the playoffs the year before their starters departed, were going to need to focus on rebuilding

When I visited Belleville during the week of Thanksgiving, I spoke to many residents around the area about the Senators. While there was a palpable amount of excitement and an incredible level of support after the big announcement, there was also a lot of questions and some things that were not entirely clear to hockey fans in Quinte. In this post I hope to answer some of the most common questions I've been asked, as well as respond to some of the comments that I have seen online, and debunk some myths that surround the team.

Eighteen months ago, on a cold, spring night, hockey died in Belleville. 534 days later it was announced that it will be revived next year.

It was shortly after 9:00PM on April 2nd, 2015, that the Belleville Bulls - a franchise with 34 years of history in the Quinte area, ceased to exist.

At the final buzzer, all 3,194 people who filled the green plastic seats of the Yardmen Arena, felt like they just lost a friend.

Yesterday marked the end of my first Olympic journey. A lot of work and a lot of hours go into producing such a big event, and I am so happy to see how smoothly things went from a CBC perspective.

For all of the people that watched the events, and don't truly comprehend all the hard work that goes into getting an Olympic Games from Rio, to Toronto, to your homes; in a way that's a good thing because it means we're doing our job well, but I also hope everyone can appreciate the amount of people that work to get the Olympics to air (as proved by this 9:00 minute credit roll of everyone who worked on the games).

A big shoutout and thank you goes to all of my Sport Media colleagues who experienced this adventure with me; to the professors and instructors at Ryerson who helped us get to the point that we are, that gave us the opportunity to work on our first Olympics; and of course everyone at the CBC for their guidance and instruction to help our experiences go seamlessly.
